Busy behind the scenes!

Happy Friday everyone,

Sorry I have not been around with much news lately.  We have been very busy behind the scenes working on The ASPIRE Programme, which we launch with the Lord Mayor visiting on Wednesday 4th September at 1pm.  We have some spaces left so please book via info@thehutyork.co.uk to find out more.

Meet the team – Hugh, Caretaker

Hugh has worked at The Hut for a number of years, he started as a member and has embraced The Hut, getting involved in a number of our sessions.  When a job opportunity arose, Hugh asked if he could apply.  He turned up to his interview smartly dressed and with a positive attitude.  He got the job on his own merit, and has demonstrated the importance of hard work and determination in helping you succeed.  When the opportunity to develop his knowledge came up he jumped at the chance and this week he completed his course and passed with flying colours!  The feedback from his tutor was excellent and we are very proud of Hugh and his achievements.

Members have been busy this week, making pizza in our Tuesday afternoon craft session, everyone had a great time and the pizzas look fantastic.

Finally a big thank you to Skipton Building Society local branch in York who on Wednesday were raising money for The Hut. They raised £173.60 and its going to be match funded by the corporate part of Skipton Building Society.  We had wanted to put the money raised towards a new fridge freezer, however a lady rang me that afternoon to say she had seen them raising funds and wanted to donated to us her fridge freezer which was nearly new and would save us some money.  We are delighted and after the success of the money being raised we can put that money toward the cooking sessions we hold at The Hut on the last Tuesday of every month which will keep us going. We started these sessions off because we were given a donation by Louise Rowley and I am sure that she will be so pleased we are going to be able to continue this project and perhaps increase it to twice a month.  Donations small or large help so much and enable us to make the members experiences the best we can.

Until next week, take care everyone.

Emma
