We are looking for volunteers to join our team!
If you have a couple of hours or more to spare a week and want to join a friendly fun team we want to hear from you. On our website it details all the sessions we provide. We have had some amazing volunteers, some that are still with us like the wonderful Ian who runs Monday Movement and is a big part of The Hut family.
If you are interested in becoming part of The Hut family and become a Hut Helper by volunteering then please get in touch! To arrange an informal chat and look around please ring 01904 652991 or email: email@example.com
For a better insight into what a volunteering role at The Hut would involve, please read this document:
As well as our Hut Helper Volunteering Role, we also offer volunteering roles being a Hut Made Maker which is within our social enterprise group run by our Senior Learning Support Mentor Em Mckenzie. We have Hut Made sessions on a Monday and a Tuesday, see our timetable. As well as coming in and volunteering we also offer remote volunteering in the form of knitting packs so even if you can’t make it to our sessions you can still be a part of our Hut Made group and make a difference.
Students in Partnership with York College:
Over the years we have had many fantastic students being a partner with York College who see us as an excellent provider for student growth and development. We have had some fantastic students who have really enjoyed their time here. A lot of the students we have had with us have gone on and progressed to the university degrees that they wanted to do and we even employ one of these students as a paid member of staff. We accept predominantly health and social care students who become a valued member of our team, as well as this we accept a business student to assist with the admin and running of our service.
George Smith – Volunteered for 9 months on a student placement from York College and is now our Business Administrator. “The Hut has given me so much meaning and purpose within my life. Working with the service manager so closely has given me great insight into how to run a business and a small team, giving me all the tools I need to aid my future career.”
Leon Magson – University Placement for 9 months as a Learning Support Mentor. “Working at The Hut was a great experience that helped extend my knowledge within a care community. The staff are a welcoming and friendly unit that prioritise welfare of other staff and members. The sessions that are run offer valuable life skills that are extremely beneficial to the members.”
We look forward to hearing from you
