Emma – Manager

imageedit_2_6189898140I started my career teaching in early years, moving to York in 2007 I felt I needed a new challenge. I gained more qualifications to teach adults and with my experience of complex needs in Education and Mental Health it gave me a new direction. My previous job role gave me a chance to use my skills in a setting supporting and training vocational skills to adults with Acquired Brain Injuries and complex mental health needs, training included a Vocational Pathway where training packages in Work and Vocational skills, First Aid and Food Awareness gave people a better start in their recovery journey along with support in finding volunteer opportunities that offered meaning. I also adapted training for staff to have a better understanding in to the work they do.

I started working at The Hut in February 2015 to develop the service.   I am very passionate about what I do and working here offers a great place to express this.  My job is varied and no two days are the same, I get to do the things I enjoy and meet some remarkable people who have shared their stories.  I feel very lucky to manage this amazing place and be part of its journey.
