Jonny – Activity Coordinator
I came to The Hut to volunteer in 2015 having been through my own journey. Meeting Emma I felt an instant connection to what the place offered and threw myself in to my volunteering I have previous experience of working with adults with autism and learning disabilities and loved this. I took a person centered approach developing sessions for individuals and groups that met their needs in music, art, pottery, textiles and outdoor pursuits. I understood the need for The Hut and what it does; to have a space of acceptance and inspiration to motivate our members.
I had a sense of pride and achievement in my role volunteering and this was recognised when I was offered paid work, leading to me now being employed full time as the Activity Coordinator which I love as no two days are ever the same and I meet some amazing people. Being an extremely creative person I get to share this with our members and we create some amazing pieces of work.
I am currently studying for my NVQ in Activities Coordinating I also am the trainer delivering Safeguarding adults training. I give everything I have for our members because without them we are just an empty building with them we are a space of creativity, love, understanding, acceptance and unity.
