Upcoming changes to The Hut

Dear all,

For a while behind the scenes our brilliant trustees have been fundraising and planning for what we call ‘Stage 2’ replacing the roof. After months of uncertainty regarding sourcing roofers and materials to fulfil the job we need, we can finally confirm that we have a date for when work begins on the main building roof. That date is the Monday 28th November and if all goes as planned this will be completed before we reopen after our Christmas break on  Tuesday 3rd January 2023.

From the 28th November, until we close on the 16th December, we will only have a limited capacity due to the size of The Hubble and will run a slightly different programme of ‘Christmas Crafts and Fun!’ Limited capacity is far from ideal and not what we would like to do, as we know just how much all our members love coming to The Hut. However due to logistics this is our best option.

Therefore, sadly we will need to adjust the numbers of members attending as the Hubble’s capacity is unable to hold everyone who attended our studio sessions. This hasn’t been an easy decision and we fully understand this is not ideal, but we feel we have tried very hard to be fair. We have looked at members who have nowhere else to go and/or no other support in place. For some that attend multiple times a week where possible reducing those days and/or who have support staff who come, could look at other alternatives with them on those days.

To those who we reluctantly have had to lower their number of days or ask that you take a short break, we will be speaking to you directly and we hope that for the 3 weeks you will understand why we have had to do this. I do apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

If the building work is not going to finish on time, we will notify everyone with as much notice as possible and explain what we will do next.

I am available for anyone to discuss attendance during the roof works where we have asked if you can reduce your time with us or take temporary leave. If you feel that you would prefer to take time off during this time, please let us know so we can then offer your place to someone else for the period of the roof works.

Thank you to everybody for your continued support it does mean so much.

Kind Regards,

Emma Little
