The York Golf Club Captains Charity

April 2024

The newly appointed Captains of York Golf Club, Alasdair Fraser and Linda Gills are delighted to appoint The Hut as their sole Captain’s charity during their 2024/5 Captaincy year.

Alasdair said “I was really impressed with the work that Emma Little does with her team. Linda and I felt it was important to support a York based charity. We all know and hear about the pressures facing mental health and disability services and every penny raised by York Golf Club members will make a difference”.

Linda said, “The Hut provides a safe and friendly environment where members can take part in a variety of indoor and outdoor projects. I am confident that the money raised by York Golf Club members will have a big impact on this Charity”.

The Hut York is a registered charity set up in 2011. Created in response to an increasing need for day facilities in York. Since 2015 Emma has been the Service Manager, working alongside her is a small team and a board of Trustees who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fields of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. The Hut looks to bring creativity and purpose to the lives of adults with their mental health journeys and or learning disabilities.

Emma states – “I am extremely grateful to Alasdair and Linda for choosing The Hut in their year as Captains, we may be a small charity but we have a big heart, however, like a lot of charities money is tight, and to deliver and develop our much needed service to our members this comes at a cost. Supporting The Hut is going to make a huge difference. On behalf of my members thank you.

Founded in 1890, York Golf Club is one of the longest-established clubs in Yorkshire and is recognised as a Club with one of the finest traditions in the area. It is currently regarded as one of Yorkshire’s top courses.
